My jaw dropped a bit. "So you weren't planning on coming back?" I ask. I was trying to make myself mad at him, but I just couldn't do it. He was too familiar, too safe for me, and I couldn't ignore that. I always felt better around him, and today had been a perfect example. Everything that could've gone wrong, short of dying, had happened. But, Patrick had been there, and I'd felt okay.
